President thanks voters after NPP ”bulldozes” to massive win

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake thanked voters after the National People’s NPP ”bulldozed” itself to a massive win at the 2024 Parliament Elections. The NPP secured a majority in Parliament at the polls winning most of the districts. “Thank you to all who voted for a renaissance,” the President said on X. The NPP said that it managed to bulldoze its way to victory at the election. The NPP had secured 141 seats in Parliament based on the results released until 1pm Sri Lanka time on Friday.

Dilshan’s attempt to enter Parliament no-balled

The attempt by former Sri Lanka cricket captain T.M Dilshan to enter Parliament failed as voters no-balled him at the 2024 Parliament Election. Shock win for NPP in Jaffna polling division

The National People’s Power (NPP) secured a shock win in the Jaffna polling division at the 2024 Parliament Elections. The NPP secured 9,066 votes while the Illangai Tamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) got 2,582 votes, the All Ceylon Tamil Congress 1612 votes. The win showed that Tamils in Jaffna had decided to vote for change instead of placing their faith on ITAK, the party that often sweeps polls in the North. (Colombo Gazette)
