Passenger arrested with USD 85,000 in baggage

A passenger was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning with?US Dollars 85,000 concealed in his baggage. The Customs Department said that the man from Rajagiriya was about to board a plane to Singapore when he was arrested. The Customs Department is conducting further investigations. (Colombo Gazette)

UNP denies attempting to cover up probe

The ruling United National Party (UNP) today denied claims it was attempting to suppress the findings of the Committee On Public Enterprises (COPE) on the bond issue involving the Central Bank Governor. State Minister of Child Development Rosy Senanayake said that the?investigations by COPE into the bond issue was?not over by the time Parliament was dissolved last Friday. Chinese sex workers arrested in Colpetty

The police have arrested three Chinese women over allegations that they were engaged in the sex trade in?Colpetty. According to the police, the three women, all aged around 38 years, were arrested at a house. The three women were taken in for questioning and are to be produced before the Fort Magistrate today.
