Parliamentary election to be held on 20 June

The National Election Commission has decided to hold the Parliamentary election on 20 June. The election was earlier scheduled to be held on 25th April 2020 but was postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Colombo stock market to remain closed

The Colombo stock market is to remain closed and will not resume operations this week, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) said today. The CSE was to resume operations this week after being closed during the curfew. However, the Government announced today that the curfew in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam will continue until 27th April 2020. Seychelles, Sri Lanka to discuss illegal fishing after third vessel is intercepted

The Seychelles Fisheries Authority (SFA) is discussing new approaches to deter illegal fishing in its waters after a third Sri Lankan vessel was intercepted last week, the Seychelles News Agency quoted a top official as saying. “The new approach will see the government of both countries discussing common ground to deter these illegal activities from taking place in the Seychelles’ waters,” SFA’s interim chief executive, Cyril Bonnelame, told SNA.
