Trial-at-bar to be appointed in Prageeth case

The Attorney General has requested the Chief Justice to appoint a trial-at-bar for the case over the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda.

Attorney General Dappula de Livera has requested the Chief Justice to appoint the trial-at-bar at the Homagama High Court.

Eknaligoda was reported missing on 24 January, 2010 ? two days before the presidential elections.

Last year the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) sought the advise of the Attorney General to file legal action against military intelligence officers accused in the abduction and disappearance of Eknaligoda.

Navy assists yacht with foreign couple off Galle

The Sri Lanka Navy said that it assisted a foreign couple stranded on a yacht anchored in the seas off Galle. The yacht was stranded due to a technical fault while sailing across the Southern seas. Water cut in certain areas in Colombo
