Mahasohon Balakaya leader granted bail

Mahasohon Balakaya leader Amith Weerasinghe was granted bail by the Colombo Additional Magistrate today.

He had been arrested after the recent mob violence in parts of the country and was remanded.

Weerasinghe had been accused of using social media to promote hate among communities.

No UN troops in Sri Lanka

The Government has insisted that there are no UN troops in Sri Lanka. There was strong speculation that UN troops were in Sri Lanka after military trucks painted in full white were seen on the streets of Colombo. Over 50 admitted to hospital after wasp attack

Over 50 people were admitted to hospital after a wasp attack in Minuwangoda. The Police said that the wasp attack had taken place at a school in the area. The wasps had been disturbed during a program to clean the school premises with the participation of staff and parents.
