Mangala accuses Cardinal of fanning flames of hatred

Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera today accused Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith of fanning the flames of hatred.

Samaraweera tweeted saying Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith was fanning the flames of hatred and communism by visiting fasting monk the Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero.

The tweet had been posted just before the monk suspended his hunger strike.

“Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith fanning the flames of hatred and communism by visiting fasting robed MP Rathana. Vatican TAKE NOTE! @Pontifex @VaticanNews #lka” he tweeted.

He tweeted after the Cardinal visited the monk during his hunger strike in Kandy.

The monk later called off his strike after his demands had been met.

Forty returnees test positive for Covid

Forty Sri Lankans who returned to the country have tested positive for the coronavirus. Officials said that the 40 Sri Lankans were among 314 people who tested positive for the virus over a 24-hour period ending at 6am today.
