Full bench sought to consider FR against IGP, Defence Secretary

A full bench has been sought to consider a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition filed against IGP Pujith Jayasundara and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando.

The FR had been filed accusing Jayasundara and Hemasiri Fernando of failing in their duties to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks.

The Attorney General?s Department has now requested the Supreme Court for a fuller bench to hear the case.

Finance Minister defends UN Resolution on Sri Lanka

Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera today defended a UN Resolution on Sri Lanka which was passed by the UN Human Rights Council in 2015.
