No UN troops in Sri Lanka

The Government has insisted that there are no UN troops in Sri Lanka.

There was strong speculation that UN troops were in Sri Lanka after military trucks painted in full white were seen on the streets of Colombo.

State Minister of Defence?Ruwan Wijewardene however clarified that the trucks were trucks made in Sri Lanka to be sent for UN peacekeeping missions in Mali.

“Lot of speculation on social media about UN force being deployed in SL. These trucks are made in SL for our peace keeping troops deployed in Mali and other countries. No UN force in SL,” Wijewardene tweeted. (Colombo Gazette)
