Curfew in Chilaw after social media post triggers violence

The Police imposed curfew in the Chilaw area with immediate effect till 4am tomorrow after a social media post triggered violence.

The Police said that the curfew was imposed as a tense situation arose in Chilaw.

Mobs were seen throwing stones at some shops along the streets before the curfew was imposed.

The Police said that a post on social media had triggered the violence.

The individual who published the post was later arrested. (Colombo Gazette)

Pharmacies to remain open tomorrow

Pharmacies across the island are to remain open tomorrow. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Ajith Rohana stated that pharmacies will remain open from 09.00 a.m. to 05.00 p.m. Pharmacies across the island were opened to the public from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. today as well. (Colombo Gazette)
