JVP talks with MR on abolishing Executive Presidency successful

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) said that talks held with opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa today on abolishing the Executive Presidency, was successful. JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that Rajapaksa had noted that the policy of his party was to abolish the Executive Presidency. However he said there were some concerns raised by Rajapaksa on backing the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. Dissanayake said that Rajapaksa was prepared to meet again to discuss the matters further

CID finds evidence to link Nalaka to VIP assassination plot

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has unearthed evidence to link former DIG Nalaka De Silva to the alleged plot to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and other VIPs. The CID and the Attorney General’s Department informed court today it had evidence to link Nalaka De Silva to the plot. Nalaka De Silva was arrested last year based on evidence submitted by activist Namal Kumara. He was produced in court today and further remanded till March 19th. (Colombo Gazette)

US envoy and Defense Attach? visit China funded Hambantota port
