Douglas insists no evidence to back allegations on EPDP

Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) leader Douglas Devananda today insisted that there is no evidence to prove allegations raised against his party.

The Tamil National Alliance today told Parliament that the EPDP has been accused of committing human rights abuses in the North.

UN agencies had in the past accused the EPDP of operating as a paramilitary group.

However Devananda told Parliament that investigations conducted on the allegations had never found evidence to back the claims.

He said that the allegations had been made to sling mud at him and divert attention from the real issues. (Colombo Gazette)
