AG to file indictments against Karannagoda, other suspects

The Attorney General (AG) is to file indictments on Former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda and the other suspects accused of being involved in the abduction and forced disappearance of 11 youth.

The Supreme Court will tomorrow (March 7th) take up a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition filed by Karannagoda against moves to arrest him.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had said that Karannagoda is to be arrested over the case involving the abduction and disappearance of 11 youth between 2008-2009.

Karannagoda had filed a petition saying there is no evidence to back the allegations raised against him by the CID.

The CID had visited his residence in Kirulapone on 21 and 22 February, but Karannagoda was missing at the time, giving rise to speculation that he may be on the run.?(Colombo Gazette)
