Government challenges MR to try put words to action

IGP insists only tough laws can curb road accidents

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara says tough laws are needed to curb road accidents. Speaking to police officers today, the IGP said that the police hope the proposed heavy fine on some road rule violations will be implemented soon. He said that in foreign countries road accidents are controlled as a result of tough road rules. The IGP told police officers to strictly implement the law on the road. (Colombo Gazette)
