Passengers from Europe, Iran, South Korea asked to register

Passengers who returned from Europe, Iran and South Korea recently have been asked to register with the nearest Police station. The Government said that passengers who returned from Europe, lran or South Korea between 1-15 March 2020 must register at the nearest Police Station or 119 Centre immediately. The Government warned that legal action will be taken against those who fail to comply. (Colombo Gazette)

SLFP decides to contest separately in some districts

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has decided to contest separately in some districts at the upcoming Parliamentary election. SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera said that the SLFP will contest under the ‘hand’ symbol in some districts. Accordingly, the SLFP will contest separately in the Kandy, Jaffna, Kalutara and Wanni districts. The SLFP had already signed an agreement with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to contest the election as an alliance under the ‘flower bud’ symbol.

Another six coronavirus patients identified taking total to 28

Another six coronavirus patients have been identified in Sri Lanka taking the total to 28, the Ministry of Health said. Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that all six are males. Jasinghe said that of the six, one person was receiving treatment at the Polonnaruwa hospital and four others were at quarantine centers in the country.
