Diana withdraws petition against SJB

Former State Minister Diana Gamage has withdrawn a petition in court filed against the decision taken by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) to remove her from the party?s National List. Gamage had filed the petition in the Supreme Court. Lawyers appearing on behalf of the former MP informed court that she was withdrawing the petition. Sirisena seeks 6 more years to complete compensation payment

Former President Maithripala Sirisena has sought 6 more years to complete paying the Rs. 100 million compensation to the families of the Easter Sunday attacks. Sirisena’s lawyers informed the Supreme Court that Rs. 58 million has been paid so far. The lawyers requested another six years to complete paying the balance due.
