Moves to block Weliweriya coverage

Details are emerging of efforts to control media coverage of the Weliweriya incident, the US based Committee to Protect journalists (CPJ) said today. CPJ said that in Rathupaswala, Weliweriya, on August 1, soldiers beat and fired on people protesting what they feared was contamination of their drinking water by a nearby factory. Two Lamborghinis in Lanka

The government says there are only two Lamborghini cars in Sri Lanka and not many as claimed by the opposition. Transport Minister Kumara Welgama said that the opposition keeps accusing the government of importing Lamborghini cars to the country when there are only two in Sri Lanka. When asked who brought down the two cars the Minister said he did not know as his subject covers only public transport. The Minister was responding to a question posed by UNP MP Sajith Premadasa in Parliament today.
