Sri Lanka has sought to invigorate and enhance bilateral trade relations with Nepal. The newly appointed Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal, Himalee Arunatilaka presented credentials to President Bidya Devi Bhandari of Nepal at “Sheetal Niwas”, Office of the President in Kathmandu. Finance Ministry insists no approval for flour price hike

The Finance Ministry insisted that approval has not been granted to increase the price of flour. Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera said that the price of flour cannot be increased without the consent of the Cabinet appointed Cost-of-Living Committee and the Consumer Affairs Authority. “Any vendor selling above the mandated price will be dealt with severely,” he said. He made the comment after it was reported that Prima Ceylon had decided to increase the price of wheat flour from tonight.

UNP MP Shantha Abeysekara re-remanded

United National Party Puttalam? district MP Shantha Abeysekara has been re-remanded till 21 November 2019. MP Abeysekara is charged with the illegal possession of a firearm while taking part in an unlawful assembly in Chilaw in 2004. He was granted bail in the case on 31 March 2011
