Sri Lanka fielded 92 companies at the SIAL Paris food exhibition from 17 to 21 October, according to the Sri Lankan Embassy in France.

The embassy said participation was supported by the Export Development Board and Sri Lanka Tea Board, with companies presenting products and meeting prospective international buyers during the five-day event.

According to its account, the Sri Lankan delegation comprised 64 major exporters, 20 exhibitors in the EDB pavilion and eight companies in the Tea Board pavilion.

Ambassador Sugeeshwara Gunaratna inaugurated the national pavilions on 17 October. First Secretary for Commerce Prasadi Boomawalage and other embassy officials supported business meetings and participating companies throughout the exhibition.

The EDB pavilion hosted daily cooking demonstrations using Sri Lankan ingredients and value-added products. These included spices and Pure Ceylon Tea, with chefs demonstrating their use in contemporary dishes.

The EDB’s National Organic Control Unit also participated, promoting Sri Lanka’s National Organic Certificate and providing information about locally produced organic products to potential buyers.

Four Sri Lankan companies received recognition for products presented at the exhibition, according to the embassy.

It identified Dilmah’s non-alcoholic sparkling tea collection, Russell’s Global’s wellness tea, CinZ’s ready-to-drink cinnamon concentrate and Goodness Factory’s premium rice bran oil.

The embassy described the distinctions as SIAL 2026 Recognition and Innovation Awards.

Officials also promoted Sri Lanka Expo 2027, scheduled for 14 to 17 January in Colombo, and invited prospective buyers to attend.

The embassy said the Paris exhibition brought together 8,000 exhibitors from 127 countries and attracted more than 295,000 trade professionals.

Sri Lanka’s participation formed part of efforts to promote exports and develop international commercial relationships through product displays, demonstrations and direct engagement between local suppliers and overseas buyers.
