Petition questioning President’s mental health condition dismissed

A petition filed by an individual questioning President Maithripala Sirisena’s mental health condition, was dismissed by the Court of Appeal today.

The court dismissed the petition saying it seemed the petitioner’s intention was to insult the President and the country.

The Court also ordered the petitioner, Thakshila Lakmali Jayawardena, to pay Rs 100,000 as legal costs to the Government since the petition has been filed without any factual or legal basis. (Colombo Gazette)
