Colombo Mayor suspends fines charged related to parking meters

Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake today decided to suspend fines charged related to parking meters. Senanayake said that pending council approval she has given instructions to the Commissioner to suspend all fines charged relating to parking meters. The move comes after complaints were made with regards to the fines charged from drivers. Sri Lanka says FTA talks with China progressing smoothly

Sri Lanka on Friday said that talks on a Free Trade Agreement with China (FTA) were progressing smoothly. Sri Lanka?s Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen said that once the proposed FTA with China is completed the trade levels between both countries will grow stronger. Tamils in the North mourn victims of the final battle

Tamils in the North today mourned the victims of the final stages of the war between the LTTE and the military. Shops were closed in Jaffna and some parts of the North and East as a mark of respect to the hundreds of Tamils killed or missing.
