Three people were killed after inhaling toxic gas inside a mine in Nivithigala today, the police media unit said. The police said that one person was also?hospitalized following the incident.

Death toll from rain goes up

The death toll from the heavy rain, floods and landslides has risen to 39, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said today. According to the DMC seven people are still missing from the Matale district. The death toll stood at 36 yesterday after the bodies of two of the 9 people reported missing earlier had been recovered.
