Suspect arrested over killing of two cops

A suspect has been arrested in Kilinochchi over the killing of the two Policemen in Batticaloa yesterday, the Police said.

The Police media unit said that the 48 year old suspect was arrested in Vatakachchi.

Two policemen were found dead in?Batticaloa yesterday and a special investigation was launched.

The two constables were found dead?at a police checkpoint in Vavunaithivu in Batticaloa.

The two policemen were believed to have been shot dead.

A special police team had been deployed to Batticaloa to investigate the incident. (Colombo Gazette)

Four arrested at BIA attempting to smuggle gold

Four passengers were arrested at the?Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to smuggle gold?jewellery worth Rs 14 million. The Sri Lanka Customs department said that the four passengers are Sri Lankans and they had arrived in the country from?Mumbai. Party leaders meeting ends in another deadlock

The party leaders meeting held in Parliament this morning ended in another deadlock. Party leaders met today to appoint members to the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC).
