Japan hopes stability in Sri Lanka continues

Japan hopes that the stability in Sri Lanka will continue to be ensured through due process in accordance with the law.

Japanese Press Secretary Takeshi Osuga said that?Japan, as a longtime friend of Sri Lanka, is following with close attention and interest the recent developments in Sri Lanka, including the dissolution of Parliament.

“Japan hopes that the stability in Sri Lanka will continue to be ensured through due process in accordance with the law,” he said in a statement.

President Maithripala Sirisena dismissed Prime Minister Wickremesinghe and appointed former President Rajapaksa as Prime Minister on 26 October in 2018.

In addition, President Sirisena announced on 9 November that the Parliament of Sri Lanka would be dissolved and a General Glection would be held on January 5 in 2019. (Colombo Gazette)

Cabinet approves reducing price of kerosene to Rs. 70

Cabinet today approved a proposal to reduce the price of kerosene to Rs 70?a liter. The Government had earlier decided to reduce the price of kerosene with effect from midnight today. State Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development and Rural Economy Dilip Wedaarachchi said that the price of a liter of kerosene will be reduced to Rs. 70 from midnight today.
