Summons issued on Bathiudeen

The Mannar Court has issued summons on Minister Rishad Bathiudeen to appear in court over allegations he had threatened a judge recently.

The Minister has been ordered to appear in court on August 27^th to respond to the allegations raised against him.

Bathiudeen has been accused of threatening the Mannar judge last month during a protest by Muslim fishermen in the area.

The fishermen were agitating against a court order issued by the judge permitting Tamil fishermen to remain at a fishing market in the area.

Bathiudeen was reported to have threatened the judge and asked him to reverse his decision.

During the protest last month the Mannar high Court premises was also stoned and it was reported that the Minister had instigated the attack.
