Chamal Rajapaksa gets Rajitha’s Ministry

Chamal Rajapaksa was appointed as the new?Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine today.

He replaced Dr. Rajitha Senaratne who held the post before the old cabinet was removed by the President.

Meanwhile, Mrs Vasantha Perera, a senior administrative officer was appointed as the new Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine.

She received her appointment letter from President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon. (Colombo Gazette)

Hartal in Vavuniya over rape and murder of teen

A hartal was staged in Vavuniya today in protest over the rape and murder of a teenager last week. An autopsy conducted on the?teen found dead in a house in Vavuniya revealed that she was raped and murdered. The 14 year old girl was found hanging from the neck with the help of a saree inside the house last week.
