Mervyn ready to work with BBS

Former Minister Mervyn Silva says he is prepared to work with the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) in future.

The former Minister visited the Prison Headquarters today together with BBS monks to seek protection for BBS General Secretary the Venerable Galagoda Aththe?Gnanasara?Thera.

The BBS claimed that there is a threat to the life of the?BBS General Secretary who is currently serving a prison sentence.

Speaking to reporters outside the?Prison Headquarters,?Former Minister Mervyn Silva said that the President and Prime Minister will be responsible if any harm comes to?the Venerable Galagoda Aththe?Gnanasara?Thera.

He said that he is also prepared to work with the BBS to protect Buddhism in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)

Christmas Day in Sri Lanka hit by heavy rain, floods

Christmas Day in Sri Lanka has been hit by heavy rain, floods and landslide warnings. The Department of Meteorology said that a depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has entered through the East coast of Sri Lanka and it is moving across the country. This has resulted in over 150 mm of rain being experienced in parts of the country. Minor floods were also reported in several areas.
