Japan names Sugiyama as new Ambassador to Sri Lanka

The Japanese Government decided at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday on the appointments of new ambassadors to Sri Lanka, Cameroon, the Marshall Islands and Ethiopia, effective Thursday,?Jiji Press reported.

Akira Sugiyama, 57, will be Ambassador to Sri Lanka. He has served as minister at the permanent mission to the United Nations in New York, as well as head of the Yamagata prefectural police and chief of protocol at the Foreign Ministry. (Colombo Gazette)

DIG Ajith Rohana transferred to Southern Province

Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Ajith Rohana has been transferred to the Southern Province. The DIG in charge of Crimes and Traffic has been transferred to replace the current DIG of the South. CID to investigate death of Atulugama girl

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is to investigate the death of a 9-year-old girl in Atulugama. The girl was reported missing in Atulugama in Bandaragama and was found dead yesterday. The 9-year-old girl, who was reported missing since Friday morning, is believed to have been abducted and killed. Fatima Ayesha was reported missing after she went to a nearby shop to purchase some items. CCTV footage showed the girl going to the shop to purchase the goods before she went missing.
