Government warns no one should be laid off

The Government has warned that no one should be laid off from their employment despite the crisis in the country. Head of the Presidential Task Force Basil Rajapaksa warned that no loss of employment should take place both in the state and private sectors while the country is moving forward, the President’s Office said. Cabinet approves proposal to erect statue of Nelson Mandela

Cabinet has approved a proposal to erect a statue of former South African President Nelson Mandela in Colombo. The statue will be erected on land at the Colombo Municipal Library premises. However, Sri Lankan Government provisions will not be used for this purpose.
