PCoI on SriLankan, Mihin Lanka to be appointed next week

A Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) to investigate corrupt practices at?SriLankan Airlines and Mihin Lanka is to be appointed next week, President Maithripala Sirisena said today.

The President said this at a political rally of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) held in Matale today.

Sirisena said that once the Presidential commission is appointed the names of corrupt politicians and officials will be exposed.

He said that the country could never develop owing to the activities of corrupt officials.?(Colombo Gazette)

Coronavirus patients detected in Kandy District

Over twenty-five (25) COVID- 19 patients were detected in the Kandy district within the last 24-hours ending at 06.00am today. The National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC) said that they were among 400 patients detected as of this morning. From the 400 patients, 391 were from three districts, while nine were Sri Lankans who returned from overseas. Over 320 Sri Lankans return from overseas

Over 320 Sri Lankans, including migrant workers who were stranded overseas due to the coronavirus pandemic, arrived in Sri Lanka this morning. The National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC) said that twenty-five Sri Lankans arrived from Doha in Qatar and two from Japan.
