Government to apologize to Sri Lanka’s Muslims for forced cremations

Cabinet has approved a proposal for the Government to apologize to Muslims and others for the forced cremations carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka. The Government noted that, as stipulated in the guidelines published by the Ministry of Health on the Clinical Management of COVID-19, cremation was recommended as a methodology, for the disposal of dead bodies of the persons who died due to the COVID-19 virus. Accordingly, 276 Muslims who had passed away as a result of the virus

Man found stabbed to death inside three-wheeler in Colombo

A man was found stabbed to death inside a three-wheeler at Ward Place in Colombo. The Police said the 33-year-old man was found dead inside the three-wheeler, Tuesday. Harin approves team led by Charith Asalanka for T20 series against India

Sports Minister Harin Fernando has approved the Sri Lanka cricket squad led by Charith Asalanka selected to face India in the T20 series. The Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee selected a 16-member squad to play in the T20I series during the India Tour of Sri Lanka 2024.
