Protests in several areas over fuel crisis

Protests were staged in several areas today over the ongoing fuel crisis and the increase in fuel prices. Bus operators in some areas suspended operations owing to the fuel price hike and shortage of fuel. Protesters also blocked traffic in some areas resulting in tense situations. Galle Face protesters begin to use digital mapping

The protesters at Galle Face began to use digital mapping today by displaying images on the walls of the Presidential Secretariat. Digital images with wordings, including “Go Home Gota”, were projected onto the walls of the Presidential Secretariat during the protest. Government says talks with IMF positive

The Government says discussions held with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington were positive.
