CEB leave cancelled as trade unions go on strike

All leave for employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has been cancelled from today till September 20 as CEB trade unions?launched trade union action.

CEB trade unions commenced a strike today?demanding solutions to salary anomalies and other issues.

Price of imported milk powder reduced

The price of imported milk powder was reduced with effect from today, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) said. The CAA said that the price of a 1 kilogram packet of imported milk powder was reduced by Rs 40 while the price of a 400 gram packet was reduced by Rs 15.

Mrs. Sri Lanka crowned Mrs. World 2020

Mrs. Sri Lanka, Caroline Jurie, has been crowned Mrs.World 2020 at the final held in the US. Jurie becomes the second Sri Lankan to win the title after former Mrs. World Rosy Senanayake. Senanayake won the title in 1984. The Mrs. World 2020 Pageant was held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jurie was selected as the winner ahead of 1st Runner Up Ireland and 2nd Runner Up US Virgin Islands.
