Rohitha questioned by FCID over Supreme Sat

Rohitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, was questioned by the Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) today over Supreme Sat.

Sri Lanka first communication satellite, Supreme SAT I was reported to have been launched in 2012 from the ?Xi Chang? launch centre in China.

However the current Government said it did not believe a satellite was sent to orbit. Rohitha Rajapaksa was involved in the project.

Supreme Sat Pvt Ltd. had claimed to have invested Rs. 18 billion for the launching of the satellite, but the Government said no such investment had been made, adding that this company had no expertise in satellite technology either. (Colombo Gazette)
