Over 40 from Negombo moved to Punani quarantine centre

Over 40 persons from Negombo have been transported to the Punani quarantine centre. Military Spokesman Brigadier Chandana Wickremesinghe said the group were identified to have come into direct contact with the 2nd Sri Lankan to die due to Covid-19. He said 43 individuals were identified to have come in direct contact with the victim from Kochchikade, Negombo. They will undergo a 14- day quarantine period at the Punani quarantine centre, he added. (Colombo Gazette)

China donates large stock of medical equipment to Sri Lanka

China today donated a large stock of medical equipment to Sri Lanka to help the country fight the coronavirus. The medical equipment handed over by the Chinese Government included nebulizers, Fotitude Kit 2.0, a Pulse Oximeter, infrared thermometers, infusion pumps, syringe pumps, suction apparatus, ECG Machine, Xray Portable, defibrillator, autoclave table top, high flow oxygen therapy and ICU ventilators. The equipment was handed over to the Health Ministry by the Chinese Embassy in Colombo.

Curfew in 19 districts to continue till Monday

The islandwide Police curfew that was temporarily lifted to 19 Districts at 06.00 a.m. today will be reimposed at 2.00 p.m. today. The President’s Media Division (PMD) said the curfew will be in effect till 06.00 a.m. on 06 April and will be reimposed at 02.00 p.m. the same day.
