Island-wide curfew re-imposed tonight

An island-wide curfew has been re-imposed tonight as tensions continued around the country. The Police said that the curfew will be in place from 9Pm tonight to 4am tomorrow. However the curfew in Gampaha will be enforced from 7pm tonight to 6am tomorrow.

India extends ban on LTTE for five years

India today extended the ban on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) for violent and disruptive activities which are prejudicial to the integrity and sovereignty of India. The Ministry of Home Affairs renewed its 2014 notification to declare LTTE as an ?unlawful association? for another five years, The Hindu newspaper reported.
