Wimal grilled by FCID over alleged financial irregularities

Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa was questioned by the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) today over?alleged financial irregularities at the Housing Ministry when he was the Minister in charge.

Weerawansa said the FCID had informed court that he was evading notice issued to him to appear before the FCID.

He says he was unable to appear before the FCID because of the budget debate and since he went overseas with a Parliamentary delegation.

Weerawansa said the court had then issued an order for him to appear before the FCID today or tomorrow and so he visited the FCID today as a result of that court order. (Colombo Gazette)

Permission sought to transfer PNB DIG

Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) C. D. Wickramaratne has requested for the transfer of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) Sanjeewa Medawatte.
