Defence Ministry rejects claims on National security

State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene today rejected claims being made by?extremist groups on National security.

He said the claims are being?to provoke the people. He said that National security is an important factor while moving towards reconciliation.

Wijewardene expressed these views while speaking as the Chief Guest at the Virusara privilege card distribution held at the Commando Regimental Center in Ganemulla today.

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Karunasena Hettiarachchi and Secretary to the State Ministry of Defence APG Kithsiri were also present at the occasion.

Speaking at the event, State Minister Wijewardene said that the President as the Commander in chief of the armed forces has given priority for National security, and to resolve the issues faced by the soldiers. (Colombo Gazette)
