Journalists allegedly threatened by Parliament employee

At least two journalists have allegedly been threatened by a Parliament employee, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya was informed today.

The journalists had allegedly been threatened for reporting in an incident where the Parliament employee had used the chair of the Speaker.

Opposition Parliamentarian Dinesh Gunawardena raised the matter with the Speaker today and the Speaker said he will look into it.

The Speaker however said that there are more important things taking place in the country and the incident involving the use of his chair is not important. (Colombo Gazette)

JO decides to go ahead with no-confidence motion on PM

The Joint Opposition (JO) has decided to go ahead with the?no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The decision was taken when the party leaders in the joint opposition met today. Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was among those who attended the meeting.
