Government spokesman and Health Minister, Dr Rajitha Senaratne today accused the media of misreporting President Maithripala Sirisena’s speech last week.
Senaratne said the President never raised objections to former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa or former military chiefs being questioned on fraud or corruption.
He told reporters at the weekly post cabinet media briefing the media should carry a correction on the speech.
Some journalists then told the Minister that the text of the speech was sent by the President’s media division.
However?Senaratne said that since the video of the speech is now available online the media should report what is said in the video. (Colombo Gazette)
