Ranil says white van culture must not return

United National Party (UNP) leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the white van culture must not return to Sri Lanka. He says the current Government ensured the white van culture came to an end and that must continue. The Prime Minister was speaking at an event held in Colombo today. He said that the UNP will be forming a new alliance with several political parties by the end of this month.

AG files indictments against Sajin de Vass Gunawardena

The Attorney General (AG) has filed indictments against former Parliamentarian Sajin de Vass Gunawardena. The indictments were filed at the Colombo High Court accusing the former Parliamentarian of money laundering to the value of Rs. 306.286 million. Gunawardena owned several companies when he was a Parliamentarian under Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Government. There were suspicions over some financial transactions he had made at the time and money he had acquired.

Over Rs. 1.3 Billion in funds and property of NTJ seized

Over Rs. 1.3 Billion in funds and property belonging to the National Thowheeth Jama’ath (NTJ) and its leader Zahran Hashim has been seized, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) said today. The CID said that the funds and property have been seized on a court order. Among the property seized are houses, vehicles and Jewellery.
