Malaysian police investigating attack on Lanka’s envoy

The Malaysian police are investigating the attack on Sri Lanka’s envoy to Malaysia?at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed the incident to the media and said that police were currently tracking the perpetrators, The Star website reported.

Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Malaysia I. Ansar was assaulted by a small group of people at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday.

The Foreign Ministry, in a statement issued yesterday,?condemned the attack on the?High Commissioner.

“The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur is coordinating with local law enforcement authorities in Malaysia and other relevant local authorities to identify perpetrators and assist with investigations,” said the statement. (Colombo Gazette)

Rishad’s bail application rejected

The Fort Magistrate today rejected the bail application submitted by former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen. The Court instead ordered the MP to be further remanded until the 25th of November 2020.
