Ranil telephones Nepal’s new PM, discusses future ties

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has congratulated the newly-elected Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal and also expressed best wishes for the successful tenure of his Nepali counterpart, My Republica reported.

Talking to Prime Minister Dahal over the phone today, Wickremesinghe expressed his confidence that major tasks of constitution implementation and addressing national problems would be undertaken under Prime Minister Dahal’s leadership, according to PM Dahal’s private secretariat.

In response, Prime Minister Dahal thanked his Sri Lankan counterpart and noted that the existing bilateral relation between Nepal and Sri Lanka would be further strengthened in the days to come. (Colombo Gazette)

Fifteen year old girl arrested over double murder

A 15-year-old girl has been arrested over a double murder in Muttur, Sri Lanka. The Police said that the girl was arrested on suspicion of murdering the two elderly women. The two women aged 68 and 74 were found hacked to death at Dahanagar in Muttur. The suspect is said to be related to the two victims. (Colombo Gazette)
