Severe weather advisory issued for 12 hours beginning 10am today

A severe weather advisory has been issued for 12 hours beginning 10am today by the early warning centre of the department of meteorology.

The severe weather advisory warns showers or thunder showers will occur in the Western, North-Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle, Matara districts during the 12 hour period. Fairly heavy falls (around 75-100mm) are also likely at some places.

Strong winds at times can be expected over the country (particularly over Western slopes of the central hills) and surrounding sea areas. (Colombo Gazette)

Two suspected of coronavirus admitted to hospital

Six university students remanded for ragging

The Police have decided to take action against the spread of misinformation related to the coronavirus in Sri Lanka. The Police urged the public not to be misled by misinformation spread on social media. The Police media unit said that stern action will be taken against anyone spreading false information.
