Seven-judge bench to consider petitions against IGP, Hemasiri

A seven judge bench has been appointed by the Supreme Court to consider the petitions filed against Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara and former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando on the Easter Sunday attacks. The bench will consider the fundamental rights petitions on 12th July. The IGP and the former Defense Secretary have been accused of failing in their duties to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks.

CID to probe allegations over 20 killed under Sharia law

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is to investigate claims that over 20 people have been killed under the Sharia law. The allegation was made by the Venerable Medagoda Abayatissa Thero. IGP, Hemasiri granted bail in case over Easter attacks

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara and former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando were today granted bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate in the case over the Easter Sunday attacks. They were released on one surety bail of Rs. 500,000 for each.
