A maximum retail price has been issued for dhal, imported potatoes, coconut and dry fish. The Consumer Affairs Authority said that the gazette will be issued today. Accordingly the?maximum retail price for a kilo of dhal will be Rs. 130, imported potatoes Rs. 76, coconut Rs. 75 and dry fish depending on the variety.

Court of Appeal extends stay order against arresting Gotabaya

The Court of Appeal today extended a stay order against arresting former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa till December 15. The stay order was initially issued till today. Earlier Rajapaksa had filed a petition in court seeking an order against his arrest. Rajapaksa was facing arrest over the alleged misappropriation of over Rs. 90 million of Government funds for the construction of a memorial for his parents when he was the Defence Secretary. Minister says land and police powers must be devolved

A Government Minister today asserted that?land and police powers must be devolved to the provinces. State Minister?Vijayakala Maheswaran told Parliament today that while?land and police powers have been given to the provinces they are not implemented. She said that the new Constitution which is being discussed must include devolution of powers to the provinces, including land and police powers.
