Sri Lankans among illegal migrants arrested in Ukraine

Four illegal migrants, including some Sri Lankans, were arrested near a?checkpoint in?Smilnytsya in western Ukraine.

Three men and one woman with a baby stemming from Somalia and Sri-Lanka were heading to Poland on foot. They were however arrested close to the border, Ukraine Today reported.

After the arrest, the men were moved to a temporary detention centre. The woman and her baby are currently in a hospital, since the child caught a cold.

The border patrol says the migrants’ influx increases in the spring. In March they have already busted?three refugee groups. (Colombo Gazette)

Nigeria decides to close down embassy in Sri Lanka

The Nigerian federal Government has decided to close its embassy in Sri Lanka, Per Second News reported. The Federal Government recently announced its intention to shutdown five foreign missions and embassies, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.
