Army Major and soldier arrested over road accident

An Army Major and a soldier have been arrested over a road accident at Opanayaka along the Colombo – Badulla main road.

The police media unit said that a five year old child was killed in the accident involving a jeep and a three-wheeler.

Five people were injured when the jeep and the?three-wheeler crashed into each other last evening.

The?Army Major and the?soldier who drove the jeep are among those receiving treatment in hospital.

The police said that the Army Major was arrested for giving directions to the driver which led to the accident. (Colombo Gazette)

Number of coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka rises

One more COVID- 19 patient was detected in Sri Lanka today, raising the total number of infected patients to 190. The Ministry of Health said 134 patients among the infected have been identified as active cases. A total of 242 patients are under observation in hospitals on suspicion of having contracted the virus.
