Decision to import limited number of vehicles suspended

A decision taken earlier to import a limited number of vehicles has been suspended.

The Cabinet decided to suspend the move when it met today, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s office said.

The Cabinet had convened via Zoom today and was chaired by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is also the Minister of Finance.

The Finance Ministry had earlier decided to import a limited number of vehicles, including vehicles for Parliamentarians.

However, when the Cabinet convened today it was decided to suspend the move considering the situation in the country.

The coronavirus situation in Sri Lanka and the state of the economy were considered when the decision to import the vehicles was suspended. (Colombo Gazette)
