Former Embilipitiya ASP remanded till February 17

The former Embilipitiya Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) DWC Dharmaratna who was arrested yesterday?over the death of a youth in?Embilipitiya recently was today ordered to be remanded till February 17.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) was?ordered by the?Embilipitiya Magistrate last week to arrest the police officers allegedly involved in the incident which led to the death of a youth in?Embilipitiya recently.

The?Embilipitiya Magistrate had earlier issued instructions to arrest the?former ASP and the Headquarters Inspector (HQI) of Embilipitiya in relation to the incident.

The youth died following an?altercation with the police which took place when then police visited a?house where a party was taking place.

The police headquarters had later temporarily transferred 21 policemen over the incident. (Colombo Gazette)
