UN Human Rights chief Prince Zeid to visit North

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Prince Zeid Ra?ad Al Hussein will visit the North during his visit to Sri Lanka which begins on Saturday February 6, UN sources said.

Zeid is expected to visit former war battered areas in the North and meet families who were directly affected by the conflict.

UN sources said that the High Commissioner will be in Sri Lanka till Tuesday February 9 and will hold a press conference at the end of his visit.

The Government will brief Zeid during his visit on the progress in implementing the UN resolution on Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)

Nigerian arrested for fraud

A Nigerian man has been arrested for fraud committed in Sri Lanka, the police media unit said today. The police said that the Nigerian and his accomplices had sent out emails and SMS messages to people saying they had won money through the UN and duped them to send money to bank accounts as customs fees.
